Dream Works recording artist Jimmy Wayne will perform two country concerts at DelGrosso\u2019s Amusement Park next weekend.
\nOn Sunday, August 7, Wayne will perform at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
\nBorn in Kings Mountain, N.C., Wayne spent much of his childhood moving from place to place. He spent time with several family members, in foster homes and group homes before he finally ended up in Nashville.
\nUnlike many who preceded him to Nashville, Wayne didn\u2019t rush immediately into securing a record deal.
\nThrough a connection with Mike Whelan, director of creative services for Acuff-Rose, Wayne was invited into the legendary publishing house. For three years he worked alongside established writers like Dean Dillon and Whitey Shafer, polishing his writing skills and earning credit for co-writing Tracy Byrd\\’s Top 10 hit \\”Put Your Hand In Mine\\” with Skip Ewing.
\nEventually, Wayne was signed to a record deal with Dream Works.
\nHis first album was released on June 24, 2003 with songs including \u201cPaper Angels\u201d and \u201cStay Gone\u201d, a Billboard Hot Country hit.
\nDelGrosso\u2019s Amusement Park is excited to welcome Wayne to the stage next weekend.
\nThe last country concert held at the park was former American Idol contestant Josh Gracin, who drew in a large number of country music fans.
\nAnother large crowd is expected for Wayne\u2019s concert.
\nSponsors for this year\u2019s concert series include Froggy 98; WALY 103.9; Ansley RV; Surplus City; Boyer Refrigeration; The Altoona Mirror; Century 21; Strayer and Associates and Giant Eagle Altoona, Roaring Spring and Ebensburg. It\u2019s the support from these local businesses that make DelGrosso\u2019s summer concerts available for the public.
\nAdmission to the concert and parking are free to the public. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and settle in for an exciting afternoon and evening of entertainment.
\nOther events planned for this summer include the March of Dimes Rubber Duck Regatta on August 14, free Christian concerts with Todd Agnew and Frontline Ministries Last Blast on September 4.
