Once again, DelGrosso\u2019s Amusement Park will host a Native American Pow Wow, to be held tomorrow and Sunday, July 16-17.
\nThis is the eighth year for the event and DelGrosso\u2019s is pleased to welcome back Ezra Fields as Master of Ceremonies for the weekend\u2019s events. Ezra, a Pawnee Indian, has traveled and performed all over the country.
\nArena Director for the event is Jay Hill, Seneca-Ojibway. There will be two drum groups hosted by Iron Horse and Blackhorse Butte.
\nThe dance ceremony will take place at the Tipton Creek Railroad and provide fun for the entire family. There will be dancing, drumming, singing, arts, crafts, food and much more.
\nThe Pow Wow is not only a time for fun but it is also a time of competition for the dancers, who have traveled here from all over the United States.
\nMen, women and children dress in full Indian regalia to compete.
\nThey are judged in several different categories, and on Sunday, winners will be recognized for their achievements at an awards ceremony.
\nAlong with the exhibition and competition, there will also be vendors selling everything from beautiful handmade jewelry to authentic Indian food.
\nTomorrow, the event will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m. Grand entries will be at noon and 6 p.m.
\nSunday events start at 10 a.m. with the grand entry at noon. At 5 p.m. competition winners will be announced and the Pow Wow grounds close at 6 p.m.
\nSome bleacher seating will be available, but it is suggested that individuals bring a lawn chair.
\n\u201cWe have such unique guests, and each year the event keeps getting bigger, so come early and join the fun,\u201d said Jeff Ingram, a representative of DelGrosso\u2019s Park.
