However, for those staying close to home there are a number of activities and events planned for the holiday. Some are directly related to the patriotic nature of the celebration and still others are fun activities for everyone.
For example, tonight, Fun Fridays continue in downtown Tyrone. Dennie Huber will present music and magic this evening at City Hotel Park in downtown Tyrone. Begins at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, Fun Friday concerts will be held in Joybeans Coffee Shop on 10th Street.
Two of the area’s popular attractions, Fort Roberdeau and DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, are also ready for the weekend.
On Sunday, there will be a free concert at the Fort starting at 7 p.m. featuring the well-known 28th Division Band then on Monday July 4 features a “Star Spangled Picnic” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring a picnic basket for revolutionary music and fun.
DelGrosso’s Amusement Park’s traditional Fourth of July celebration is set for Monday this year’s edition of “Summer Thunder.”
A DelGrosso’s spokesperson Jeff Ingram said, “The name of the fireworks here in Tipton is going to be “Prelude to Montreal.”’ Every year they have in Montreal, Canada…along the river, they have a big fireworks competition. (They invite) fireworks companies, the manufacturers of fireworks from all over the United States and across the world.
“This year, the United States is being represented by Rozzi Fireworks that does our fireworks here in Tipton and has…since 1947,” said Ingram. “They invited Joe DelGrosso to be part of the crew (although) I’m not sure he’s accepted that invitation yet. Joe does have a pyrotechnical license. He was invited to be part of the show with Rozzi up in Canada in July.
“So, because of Rozzi being a part of it and representing the United States, we decided we would tune in with Rozzi and do the “Prelude to Montreal” here in Tipton,” said Ingram.
He said crews were preparing the fireworks behind the plant as he was being interviewed for this article on Thursday afternoon.
“The music soundtrack is ready, the fireworks pre-show will begin at 10 o’clock on Monday evening and the fireworks will commence at 10:30 p.m.,” said Ingram.
During the afternoon hours on the Fourth, listeners to WTRN in Tyrone will be treated to a program called “Patriots on Parade.” The broadcast will start at 12:30 p.m. and will run until 3:30 p.m. The host for the show will be Bill Dann and will feature “freedom ringin’, patriotic platters, marches, battle ballads and wartime gold.”

The Fourth of July weekend is here and weather predictions are calling for high temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s throughout the extended holiday weekend with sunny skies after a chance of thunderstorms and showers this afternoon and evening, while lows each night should be around 60 degrees.
