According to a release submitted by Tyrone Community 4-H club members, on May 12, the group \u201cwas called to arms.\u201d
\nThe Tyrone American Legion Post No. 281 and 4-H members went to Soldier\u2019s Park, to remember veterans with honor.
\nMore than 1,000 crosses were placed in memory of the veterans who have died and who were also members of the Legion.
\nThe release from the 4-H members said several girls felt honored to help place crosses, and many set up crosses that belonged to their families.
\nOne example was fourth-generation Kirkpatrick, Amanda Morningstar, who helped the American Legion with the Memorial Day crosses.
\nWhen asked what she thought about the American Legion putting in the crosses, she said, \u201cI think it is wonderful that a group of people so dedicated come out to do something like this to recognize what these men and women have done for us.\u201d
\nShe was able to honor her fallen great-grandfather by putting in his cross.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s important that we take the time to recognize these brave fallen who have given their all for this country. Today is the day when people who are veterans should say thanks and give them the respect they deserve, not just on this day, but all year round.\u201d
\nAmanda is only 14 and is with the newly-formed 4-H group.
\nThe effort at Soldier\u2019s Park is just one of the activities the 4-Hers have decided to do in return for the American Legion\u2019s help with the group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
