Sickler Athletic Complex on Thursday at 4 p.m. in one of the Class AA contests. Tyrone (11-6 overall and 6-4 in the MAC Division III), which completed the regular season on Wednesday by blasting Bishop Guilfoyle 16-3, is the eighth seed, while Westmont-Hilltop is the ninth seed. The winner of that ballgame, will meet top seed Richland at Richland on Monday, May 26.<br \/>\nTyrone also began district playoffs against Westmont in 2004, regrouping for an 8-7 win after the Hilltoppers had rallied to tie the game at 7-7. The Golden Eagles led early in their quarterfinal game against defending champ Central, before a Dragon rally eliminated Tyrone 12-4.<br \/>\nBlairsville (number 11 seed) will play at West Branch (6), and United (10) will play at Central (7) in the other first round Class AA games.<br \/>\nOn Monday, on other games, Bald Eagle Area (5) will play at Bishop McCort (4), the West Branch\/Blairsville winner will play at Philipsburg-Osceola (3) and the Central\/United winner will play at Marion Center (2) in quarterfinal contests.<br \/>\nWest Branch is the only Class AA participant to appear on the Golden Eagles regular schedule. The Warriors topped Tyrone twice, winning 11-7 at West Branch and 9-6 at Tyrone.<br \/>\nIn the Class A bracket, Mount Union (14-4-1) drew the top seed, Southern Huntingdon (13-4) the number two seed, Homer-Center is the number three seed and Juniata Valley (11-7) is number four, giving Huntingdon County three of the top four seeds.<br \/>\nOn Thursday in Class A, Portage (9) will play at Claysburg-Kimmel (8), and Bishop Guilfoyle (10) will play at Moshannon Valley (7).<br \/>\nIn Monday\u2019s Class A quarterfinals, the Portage\/Claysburg winner will play at Mount Union, Blacklick Valley (5) will play at Juniata Valley, Northern Cambria (6) will play at Homer Center and the Mo Valley\/BG winner will play at Southern Huntingdon.<br \/>\nMount Union will be gunning for its 15th district title. Although the first 11 came in Class AA, the Trojans won their third Class A crown a year ago by defeating West Branch 2-1, in the championship final. Under long-time head coach Nick Imperioli, Mount Union got off to a 4-3-1 start, before coming on strong to claim the Mountain Athletic Conference Division III championship.<br \/>\nIn Class AAA, Somerset (5) will play at Bellefonte (4). On Thursday, May 26, the winner of the Bellefonte\/Somerset game will play at  Indian Valley.<br \/>\nThe Class AAAA championship final between number two seed Hollidaysburg and top seed State College will be played either Wednesday, June 1, or Thursday, June 2 at a site and time to announced.<br \/>\nIn Class A, AA and AAA, the semifinals will be at the home field of the team with the higher seed on May 26 and the finals will be at Blair County Ballpark on June 2.<br \/>\nThe Tyrone girls softball team (8-10) with coach Lois Loncher, are the 11th seed in the District Six Softball Tournament. The Lady Eagles will play a first round game at Mount Union against the number six seed Lady Trojans.<br \/>\nTyrone dropped a pair of tough decisions to Mount Union during the regular season falling 4-2 at Mount Union and 2-1 at Tyrone.<br \/>\nThe winner of the Tyrone\/Mount Union tilt will play at number three seed Philipsburg-Osceola. The Lady Mounties split a pair of regular season contests with the Tyrone girls, winning 5-1 at Philipsburg and the P-O girls doubling up the Lady Eagles 8-4 at Tyrone.<br \/>\nThe Lady Eagles shoddy fielding cost them a playoff win in the first round of the 2004 district playoffs in an 8-2 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola.<br \/>\nAlso scheduled for first round games on Thursday are Penns Valley (9) at Forest Hills (8) and Ligonier Valley (10) at Cambria Heights (7).<br \/>\nIn other quarterfinal Class AA contests on Monday, May 26, the Penns Valley\/Forest hills winner will play at top seed Bald Eagle Area, Richland (5) will play at Westmont-Hilltop (4) and the Ligonier Valley\/Cambria Heights winner will play at number two seed Central Cambria.<br \/>\nIn first round Class A games, Saltsburg (9) will play at Bishop Carroll (8), Bishop Guilfoyle (12) will play at Moshannon Valley (5), Glendale (11) will play at Claysburg-Kimmel (6) and Conemaugh Valley (10) will play at West Branch (7).<br \/>\nAll four divisions will play their championship games at Hess Field outside of Boalsburg.<br \/>\nThe Class AAA field features just three teams with top seed Bellefonte drawing a bye while Lewistown (3) plays at Indian Valley (2) in a semifinal on May 26.<br \/>\nClass AAAA, newly formed this year, has only two teams, with top seed State College playing number two seed Hollidaysburg at Hess Field, on Tuesday, May 24.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The District Six baseball and softball playoff pairings have been announced for the 2005 season.
