Monday\u2019s ten team Mountain Athletic Conference at Bellwood Antis High School meet was a definite confidence booster for the Eagles who have weathered some tough losses in the past few weeks. The meet consisted of ten area teams from divisions three and four of the Mountain Athletic Conference.
\nMeeting again with some of their most challenging opponents, the Eagles redeemed themselves yesterday with a third place finish in the men\u2019s meet and a sixth place in the girl\u2019s meet.
\nTyrone coaching staff credit the boy\u2019s third place finish in part to the action taking place in the field. Tyrone\u2019s Trey Brockett and Bill Dean placed first and third respectively in the long jump, with the triple jump ending with a first place from Leonard Wilson and a second by Trey Brockett. Senior Terry Tate took third in the discus, Adam Shaffer raked in the second in the javelin and Tyler Hoover nabbed the sixth position in the shot put. Finally, in the pole vault, Philip Kreckel took fourth and Shawn Ketrow took second.
\nTyrone took first in the 400 relay, setting a new meet record of 45.77, and seventh in the 3200 meter relay. Bill Dean took first in the 100 meter dash and Leonard Wilson placed fifth. In the 200 meter dash, Bill Dean took third place.
\nThe Lady Eagles took a sixth place at Monday\u2019s meet, placing in only seven events. The 110 hurdles gave up a fifth place to junior Emily Lloyd and a sixth to Elizabeth Tepsic. Tepsic also took fifth place in the 300 hurdles.
\nThe 1600 meter run was won by junior Emily Ingle. In the 800 meter run Tyrone\u2019s Ingle placed second. Tyrone had a fifth place victory in the 400 meter relay.
\nOn the field, Elizabeth Tepsic took second in the triple jump and Katie Whitby captured the fourth position. Junior Katie Schreckengost placed fourth in the discus.
\nTyrone travels to Juniata Valley on Thursday, April 28 to take on the Hornets in a 3:45 p.m. start.
