He soon discovered, however, that educating others and fostering a love for art had a special appeal. That led Brandon to change his major to Art Education: Division of Museums and Cultural Institutions with a focus on Studio Art.<br \/>\nThe current exhibit, located at the Gallery on Pennsylvania Avenue in Tyrone, is a mixture of ceramics and printmaking. Pottery pieces were created using hand-building, appliqu\u00e9, and thrown wheel techniques. The framed pieces represent a variety of printmaking styles: etching, lithograph, woodcut, and reduction-cut.<br \/>\nBarber will be completing an internship this summer in the Education Department of the Mattress Factory museum in Pittsburgh. Upon graduation, Brandon plans to pursue a career as an Art Educator in a museum setting. The exhibit will run through April 30 and may be viewed, at all hours, through the Gallery window.<br \/>\nGallery exhibits are made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough.<br \/>\nAdditional information on the artist and his works may be obtained by contacting the ARTS LINE office at 684-ART2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether it was building furniture or painting pictures, art has always been a part of Brandon Barber\u2019s life.
