Things continue to look sunny for the Tyrone Lady Eagles softball team who secured their second season victory Tuesday over the Hollidaysburg Tigers 8-2, at the Harry Sickler Athletic Complex.
\nA strong opening by the Eagles seemed to solidify the win early and their performance was strong all afternoon.
\nA run by Katie Whitby in the first opened the game quietly for the Eagles, but that was only the beginning. The second inning opened up loudly with a three-run home run by Whitby which was quickly followed by two more runs to complete a six-run inning. Hilary McNelis, Megan McAllister, Kimberly Cherry, Ashley Ripka and Ashley Pennabaker also scored to give the Lady Eagles a 7-0 advantage .
\nAfter that amazing second inning, the Eagles took the field for the third confident, but never cocky.
\nA final Tyrone run from Ashley Pennabaker in the third set the score at 8-0. The Lady Eagles managed to hold off the Tigers until the fifth, when they managed two runs by McDonald and Schreider, but it just wasn\u2019t enough.
\nTyrone head coach Lois Loncher was deeply satisfied with her girls today, and congratulated them on a job well done, adding, \u201cThat\u2019s as hard as we\u2019ve hit the ball in a long, long time. But we have to enjoy it now. Tomorrow we have a tough game with Penns Valley.\u201d
\nThe Lady Eagles (2-3) 0travel to Penns Valley Tuesday. for a 4:30 p.m. start time
