Ayers has announced his candidacy for a six-year term as Snyder Township supervisor.<br \/>\n\u201cMy main reason for running for Snyder Township supervisor is because I want to work with the people to better our township,\u201d said Ayers.<br \/>\nHe retired a few years ago from PPG Industries after working there for 30 years, and Ayers feels that now he has the time to be truly dedicated to serve the township.<br \/>\nAyers said that throughout his life, he has been very dedicated in numerous areas.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve been a family man, being married 45 years and raising three daughters while living in Snyder Township for nearly 43 years,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve been in Tyrone all my life, graduating from TAHS in 1958. After graduating, I joined the US Air Force for four years in which was the only time I left my hometown.<br \/>\n\u201cAfter returning to Tyrone, I was employed at Westvaco for nine years until I was laid off and was then hired by PPG which is where I stayed until retirement. I consider myself an honest, hardworking, sensible, open-minded person.\u201d<br \/>\nAyers began working with the people of Snyder Township in April of 2004 when he took on the role of code enforcement officer.<br \/>\n\u201cAs code enforcement officer, you work for the people of the township by responding to their complaints. I have quickly responded to the people\u2019s complaints which is not always an easy process. You have to try to work with all involved in order to reach your final resolution.\u201d<br \/>\nFor the last year, Ayers has also served on the Snyder Township planning commission.<br \/>\n\u201cSo as you can see I have been involved since retirement for the township, so I would like your vote as a Republican candidate to serve as Snyder Township supervisor.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Robert D.
