Seventy-eight-year-old Stoddard Martin has announced he will be running for Bellwood Borough Council.
\nHe has a lot of experience and has been on and off council for 30 years.
\nMartin explained, \u201cDuring that time (on council), one highlight would have to be Bill Cornmesser and me going to Pittsburgh and obtaining for one dollar, 9.6 acres of land from the Pennsylvania Railroad for the Bellwood Antis Park.\u201d
\nHe felt another accomplishment during his time on council was the hiring of Police Chief Paul Pafahler who has been chief since 1984.
\n\u201cThe borough has done well since I left,\u201d said Martin. \u201cA person no longer has to climb to the second floor to get to council chambers.\u201d
\nIt is because of this, Martin says he would like one more term on town council.
