Mrs. Mary Catherine Kienzle Smith, age 71, of 701 Elm Drive, Tyrone, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 3:59 p.m. at the Tyrone Hospital. She was born November 23, 1933 in Altoona, the daughter of John M. and Mary Catherine Schell Kienzle. On April 22, 1972 at St. Matthew\u2019s Church she was married to Jerry Smith who survives. Also surviving is a son, Christopher and wife Amy of Weirton, W. VA and a brother John M. Kienzle of Bellwood. She was preceded in death by two brothers Christopher and Cyril.
\nShe was a member of St. Matthew\u2019s Catholic Church and a 1951 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1955 graduate of Mercyhurst College, Erie with an education major. She taught commercial subjects in a Washington, D.C. area high school for five years and retired as a secretary from Chicago Rivet and Machine Company in 1973. She was a member of Xi Epsilon Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
\nFuneral service for Mrs. Smith will be Friday, March 25, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Father Joseph T. Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. A funeral mass in her memory will be celebrated at a later date to be announced. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
