Martin\u2019s Food has teamed up with several area school districts, including Bellwood-Antis, to help raise money.
\nThis is the first year for the A-Plus Rewards Program which was designed to help raise money for local schools. Beginning in October and continuing through April, individuals sign up for a Martin\u2019s bonus card and the A-Plus program.
\nWhen signing up, individuals are asked to choose a participating school where they would like their earnings to go. Then the participants just need to grocery shop. Not only will they save money using the bonus card, but one percent of purchases made using the reward card is donated to the designated school. The A-Plus program is in conjunction with Martin\u2019s Bonus Card program. Individuals who already have a bonus card may still sign up to be apart of the A-Plus program.
\nMike Fox, a representative from Martin\u2019s explained that this program is different because \u201cthe schools are able to use the money for whatever they need.\u201d
\nA lot of programs designate the money to specific programs or for specific purposes like buying computers. That\u2019s not the case for Martin\u2019s reward program. The money earned belongs to the school, for whatever they deem necessary.
\nBellwood-Antis Middle School has been participating in the A-Plus program and has currently raised over $2,700. Mrs. Burch\u2019s homeroom registered the most number of individuals, signing up 241 people to the program. Molly brought in the most names from Mrs. Burch\u2019s homeroom.
\nA party was held for the winning homeroom. One day last week, students rejoined their homeroom teacher for a short time, along with Middle School Principal Mr. Robert Fisher, Martin\u2019s Representative Mike Fox and PTO coordinator Mrs. DelGrosso, to celebrate their accomplishment.
\nFox announced to the class that because the school raised so much money, Martin\u2019s was also going to donate $500 to the school district and $500 to the PTO. DelGrosso said the PTO chose to donate the $500 they received back to the district, adding an additional $1,000 on top of the $2,700 raised through the A-Plus program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
