Tyrone Borough police have made an arrest in a burglary case which dates back to November of last year.
\nAn arrest warrant was obtained earlier this month for 22-year-old Jason Lynn Woomer of 704 W. 16th Street regarding the November 3, 2004 burglary and theft of cash at a residence located at 426 W. 16th Street.
\nThe victim at that address told police someone had entered her home in the overnight hours and took between $300 and $350 in cash from a purse which was in the dining room area of the house.
\nAccording to a release from Tyrone\u2019s police chief Joseph Beachem, several burglaries had occurred near the victim\u2019s home in November and December.
\nThe police department came up with a suspect through their investigation and on Feb. 14 the department interviewed Woomer.
\nHe had come into the police station to file a complaint on an unrelated matter and was questioned about the burglaries.
\nDuring the interview, Woomer said during the time period of the robberies in question, he woke up on several mornings to find he had money in his pockets he could not explain.
\nWhen asked if he had committed the Nov. 3 burglary or been involved in the other incidents, he said he could not deny doing it but he could not remember being involved either. The man left the station and was not arrested at that time.
\nPolice continued their investigation and contacted an acquaintance of the man.
\nThe person provided a written statement which implicated Woomer in the Nov. 3 burglary.
\nAn arrest warrant was obtained and Woomer was taken into custody on the evening of March 16.
\nHe was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller and placed in the Blair County Prison in lieu of $15,000, 10 percent bail.
\nOn Tuesday, a preliminary hearing was held before Judge Miller and Woomer\u2019s case was bound over to the Blair County Court of Common Pleas.
\nWoomer was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night.
\nYesterday in his release, Chief Beachem said evidence was recovered at another burglary scene and is being processed at the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Laboratory in Greensburg to determine if Woomer was involved other burglaries or if it was someone else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
