The staff at the Tyrone Area Elementary School tries different techniques to enrich children\u2019s learning at the school.
\nOne of those techniques includes creating unique displays in the library main window.
\nTAES Librarian, Ms. Mary Jane Rudakewich, is in charge of arranging the displays in the window, and she also finds books that tie into the displays. This way the displays can be used as an education tool.
\n\u201cShe has a talent for display,\u201d added Mrs. Jeanette Ober-Lauck, gifted support teacher at the elementary school.
\nSome of the elementary teachers bring in items for the displays, and a different theme is featured each month.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s just fun to watch the children check out the things,\u201d said Rudakewich about the displays.
\nPast displays include such items as: doll houses, fire trucks, dinosaurs and family member military photos.
\nThis month\u2019s theme is Clover Farm, and memorabilia from the old-time neighborhood stores has been brought into the school by Ober-Lauck.
\nThis display may be of interest to the people of the community because, according to Ober-Lauck, there once was a Clover Farm Warehouse in Tyrone located across from the Tyrone Armory.
\nOber-Lauck has been collecting Clover Farm memorabilia for over 20 years. Items in her collection include food can labels, Depression ration coupons, miniature sewing kits and glass food jugs, to name a few.
\nRudakewich said some of the books tied into the Clover Farm display are on subjects such as baking, milk making, and careers found in supermarkets.
\nOber-Lauck invites area residents to stop by and look at the display located in the lobby of the elementary school. Visitors are reminded to sign in at the main office to obtain a visitor\u2019s pass before viewing the display.
\nNext month, there is a scheduled \u201ccountries of the world\u201d display because the third graders are completing reports on different countries.
\nAlso, one display each year is dedicated to the teachers at the school. Some examples of past teacher displays include: \u201cguess the teacher\u201d with old school photos, \u201cfavorite Christmas gifts of teachers\u201d and \u201cTeacher hobbies\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
