In a swim meet at the Tyrone pool on Monday night, the Tyrone boys (2-0) easily won their second straight meet of the early season, defeating the Central boys team 109-54.
\nIn the girls meet, Central edged the Tyrone girls (0-2) 88-72, despite three double winners for the Lady Eagles.
\nThe Eagles\u2019 Eric Nulton and Brian Pearson each were double winners in the individual events and each also helped their teammates win two relays as well. Tyrone won 10 of the 11 races and outscored Central 9-7 in the 50 Freestyle, the only event they didn\u2019t win, by getting second, third and fourth.
\nNulton won the 200 and 500 freestyle races, while Pearson took the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Nulton teamed with younger brother Ethan Nulton, Pearson and Chris Bradigan to win the 200 freestyle relay and with Ethan, Bradigan and Matt Elder to win the 400 freestyle relay. Pearson teamed with Zac Yeaton, Elder and Chris Closson to win the 200 medley relay.
\nElder won the 200 IM, Ethan Nulton the 100 butterfly, and Yeaton the 100 breaststroke.
\nIn the 50 free, Central\u2019s Panek won the event, but Tyrone swimmers Ethan Nulton, Bradigan and Tyler Thompson took the next three places.
\nThe team of Matt Grimm, Nick Diehl, Bradigan and Thompson was second in the 200 medley relay and Yeaton garnered a second place in the 200 IM.
\nTyrone swimmers who took third places were Bradigan in the 50 free, Elder in the 100 fly, Grimm in the 100 free, Diehl in the 100 breaststroke, the 200 free relay team of Brian Frey, Diehl, Thompson and Andrew Shultz and the 400 free relay team composed of Frey, Shultz, Closson and Thompson.
\nThe Lady Eagles won nine of the 11 events, but dropped their second straight meet because of lack of numbers to fill pout the roster. The Tyrone girls had no entries in the 200 medley relay, losing 12 points in one event in a dual they eventually would lose by 16 points.
\nLeah Cherry won the 200 and 500 freestyle races, Paige Black won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and Kelly Pearson took first in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke.
\nZoe Yeaton won the 100 butterfly for the Tyrone girls and the team of Yeaton, Cherry, Pearson and Black won both the 200 free and 400 free relays.
\nThe only other top three for the Lady Eagles was a second place finish for Yeaton in the 100 breaststroke.
\nTyrone was able to put three contestants in only two of the girls events.
\nThe swim teams are back in action again on Wednesday hosting a tri-meet against Richland and Bellefonte, beginning at 6 p.m.
