According to Tyrone Hospital Development Council chairman, Randy Miles, the organization\u2019s fourth annual Tree of Light fundraiser generated $3,529.17 to benefit Tyrone Hospital.
\n\u201cThis was the fourth year for the Tree of Light fund raising event. It has quickly become a community tradition,\u201d said Miles.
\nThe fundraiser involves the sale and display of angels bearing the names of loved ones being honored or remembered or to recognize a business or organization.
\nMiles said the Development Council typically raises funds to help purchase one piece of capital equipment for the hospital each year.
\n\u201cOur goal this year was to provide new vital signs monitors for the hospital\u2019s short procedure unit. I am pleased to report that this year we exceeded our goal. The Council became aware that eight new monitors were needed for various hospital departments.
\n\u201cCouncil members discussed the hospital\u2019s need and voted unanimously to purchase all eight monitors,\u201d added Miles.
\nThe funds the Development Council has raised to date allowed them to provide the monitors for the short procedure unit and also several other monitors needed at a total cost of $25,462.90.
\nThe eight monitors that will be purchased for hospital departments are as follows: two for the short procedure unit, two for the medical surgical unit, one for the ICCU, one for the emergency room and two for the obstetrics unit.
\nAccording to Miles, the vital signs monitors are used by nursing staff to monitor a patient\u2019s blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation. The nurses use the vital signs monitoring equipment with each and every patient that receives care.
\nOver the past year, the Development Council raised funds through books fairs, a shoe sale, a golf tournament and the Tree of Light fundraiser.
\n\u201cIt is the generosity of the hospital family, community members, social and civic groups and area businesses that makes the Development Council\u2019s goals become a reality each year. We want everyone to know how much their generosity and support of Tyrone Hospital is appreciated,\u201d said Miles.
