As the controversy over the possible methadone clinic continues, many residents of Antis Township now have the news they have been waiting for.
\nAccording to Antis Township Manager, Jeff Ziegler, the supervisors received a call from the Pennsylvania Department of Health on Wednesday stating the application for a methadone clinic at the site of the former Sassafras Cafe had been withdrawn.
\nZiegler said there were other locations being considered for the clinic but they were unaware of any plans for those locations because the supervisors never received any official information, other than the phone call from the Department of Health, regarding the possible clinic.
\nPlans for a methadone clinic in the area have been in the works for over a year now, and Antis Township residents have been voicing their concerns ever since.
\nAt the last Antis Township supervisors meeting, over 120 local residents attended to share their feelings on the situation.
\nMany of the concerned residents were from Parkview Estates, a development located near the proposed site at the former Sassafras Cafe.
\nAlthough many residents were there to speak out against the clinic, several people did share the opinion that a methadone clinic in the area could be beneficial.
