He\u2019s expected to tell stories and present songs about Indian Life.<br \/>\nHale is a Native American of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Eastern Woodland Indian decent. His tribal name is Saga Idea Nawee which translates to Hawk that Flies Alone.<br \/>\nHale is the founder and president of the Pittsburgh American Indian Center and for most of his life he has presented programs on Native American culture.<br \/>\nThese programs consists of songs, dancing, arts, crafts, children\u2019s games, story telling and the making of bows and arrows and atlatals.<br \/>\nIn Pittsburgh, he has presented his programs at city parks, folk festivals, Boy and Girl Scouts, schools and for the YMCA\u2019s and YWCA\u2019s and on Mr. Rogers Show..<br \/>\nIn the summer of 2003, he also made a presentation at the Lewis and Clark send off sponsored by the Pittsburgh American Indian center.<br \/>\nOther performances by Hale have included appearances at Old Bedford Village, the State College Arts Festival, Penn State\u2019s Shavers Creek Environment Center and area schools.<br \/>\nHale also was invited to participate in the Maximillion Paint Horse Show in Germany.<br \/>\nThose interested in more information about Hale or to schedule a performance, can contact him at 632-6811.<br \/>\nThe library\u2019s summer reading program is entitled \u201cDiscover New Trails at Your Library.\u201d Children will receive prizes for reading during the summer and there are what the library describes as \u201cexciting special events\u201d planned. The program is designed for children from preschool through sixth grade.<br \/>\nReading requirements over the six-week period include: preschool-second grade, 30 books read to child and third grade-sixth grade, minimum of six books and signed contract.<br \/>\nEveryone completing the reading requirements receives a certificate and prize of a Benzel\u2019s Pretzels tin.<br \/>\nEach week, a child gets a \u201cTrail Card\u201d with five activities listed. When four of the five activities are completed, the card is turned in for a small prize. In addition, a weekly drawing will be held from all the cards turned in each Saturday at 5 p.m. for another prize. Those who have turned in all six cards and have them in by August 7 will be eligible for the drawing of larger prizes.<br \/>\n In addition to registration day events this Saturday, other events are: Tuesday, June 29 from 6-7:30 p.m., \u201cNative Americans Week\u201d with Indian crafts and Thursday, July 8 from 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m., \u201cExplore Your Family Week\u201d with a genealogy workshop.<br \/>\nAlso, Tuesday, July 13 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Thursday, July 15 all day, \u201cTrails West Week\u201d with storytelling by Rev. Dunkelberger on Tuesday and Trading Post on Thursday; Saturday, July 24 at 11 a.m., \u201cPioneer Trails Week\u201d with a Fort Roberdeau field trip; Tuesday, July 27 from 6-7 p.m., \u201cInto the Woods Week\u201d with Blair County Wildlife Rehab Center; Thursday, August 5 from 6-7:30 p.m., \u201cUp and Down the Rails Week\u201d with Thomas the Tank Engine Day and August 12, closing awards party.<br \/>\nThe program is scheduled to run until August.
