Ninth Congressional District candidate Michael DelGrosso believes in the youth. Yesterday, he announced that several area students will act as DelGrosso for Congress campaign representatives in their respective schools
\nCalling it a \u201cliving civics lesson,\u201d DelGrosso introduced the students who will act as chairpersons for Students for DelGrosso at their respective high schools.
\n\u201cThe fact these students care enough about the future of their communities to get involved in politics is fantastic,\u201d DelGrosso commented. \u201cThese positions are rare in most campaigns, but all students seem to have joined to lead Students For DelGrosso in their schools for many of the same reasons. Qualifications, character, leadership, the economy and inclusion are all sighted as reasons why these students signed on with us.\u201d
\nThe following students will act as Students For DelGrosso Chairpersons at their schools: John Anastasi, son of Dr. John and Cathy Anastasi of Hollidaysburg \u2013 Bishop Guilfoyle High School; Ashley Gilliland, daughter of John and Karen Gilliland of Spruce Creek and Alexis Murray, daughter of DiAmanda and Marvin Murray of Tipton \u2013 Tyrone Area High School; Mark and Tony DelGrosso, both sons of Joe and Linda DelGrosso of Bellwood \u2013 Bellwood-Antis High School; Kaleena Rallis daughter of Terri Reinhart-Rallis and the late James Rallis of Alexandria and Brandon Hall son of Wayne and Joy Hall of Alexandria \u2013 Juniata Valley High School; Ashley Ballard, daughter of Susan and David Ballard, Saravanan Sankaran, son of Dr. Manickam and Mani Sankaran and Michael Hughes, son of Thomas and Kathleen Hughes all of Altoona \u2013 Altoona Area High School.
\nAshley Ballard explained her decision to take on a leadership role in DelGrosso\u2019s campaign.
\n\u201cMichael is the first candidate to come up with a solid economic plan,\u201d she said, \u201clet alone one that is directed to the youth in our area.\u201d
\nMark DelGrosso echoed her thought by saying: \u201cWhat Michael brings to the table will be very influential, which is what this district needs to recover. When I graduate I want to have the option of being able to stay in the area.\u201d
\n\u201cCharacter counts,\u201d said Michael Hughes, who will be attending the Virginia Military Institute in the fall. \u201cDelGrosso is by far the most qualified candidate and he will not just represent special interest groups,\u201d said Hughes.
\nDelGrosso is proud to have the endorsements of these students, some of which will not be old enough to vote.
\n\u201cWhile they may not be elected officials, their endorsements are the most valuable to any campaign, as they are the cornerstone of what we are talking about, the future of our district,\u201d said DelGrosso. \u201cI also think that it\u2019s important that the youth of today have elected officials that they can look up to and I want to be there for them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
