Linda Hershey, president of the Tyrone Area YMCA board of directors, announced this year\u2019s annual fund drive will kick-off March 17.
\nThe one-month campaign has a goal of $36,000.
\nHershey said, \u201cThis is an ambitious goal, but one that is necessary as we continue to provide a broad range of programs to the area. The Tyrone YMCA is proud to be celebrating 90 years of building strong communities in Tyrone and surrounding areas.\u201d
\nHershey also commented that the YMCA has been dedicated to the Tyrone community since 1914 to building spirit, mind and body of persons through values-based programs and services focusing on education, health and recreation.
\n\u201cIn 2004, just as in 1914, the YMCA continues to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of young people and their families. In programs like pre-school, youth sports, camping, active older adults and aquatics, we have a team of dedicated staff and volunteers making a difference every day,\u201d said Hershey.
\nPotential donors to the fund drive will be contacted by members of the YMCA board and by campaign volunteers.
