\nSome recent searches, and even purchases on the internet\u2019s hot auction site E-bay, proves positive that Tyrone memorabilia remains big among collectors both from current and former residents.
\nOver the past few years, The Daily Herald, with the wonderful help of the Tyrone Area Historical Society, has featured historical pieces ranging from a tribute to Tyrone\u2019s native son Fred Waring, to last spring\u2019s \u201cHistorical Pictorial\u201d, where our readers shared their incredible photo collections with us. And this spring, we are asking for your help again.
\nTyrone has had an unusual amount of beautiful color postcards made, featuring everything from pictures of downtown Tyrone, its buildings, factories, homes, churches and even shots overlooking the community from high atop the surrounding mountains. And we again are asking if you would be willing to share these pieces of local art with us. Your collection of postcards will be featured in a special \u201cPostcards of the Past\u201d full color tabloid, that will come out later this spring.
\nHere\u2019s how it works!
\nWe are looking for the best in your collection. Each postcard will be safely scanned into our computer then safely returned to you. We are looking for postcards where the color remains rich, and the card itself, features no creases or badly worn edges. The selected cards will feature the historic information from the back of the postcard, along with your name in a special caption under the recreation in the tabloid.
\nIf you would be willing to share your collection, please contact The Daily Herald at our offices at 1067 Pennsylvania Avenue, in downtown Tyrone, during our regular business hours from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will continue to share these images in the pages of The Daily Herald, leading up to the special edition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
