{"id":45022,"date":"2004-02-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2004-02-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2004-02-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2004-02-18T00:00:00","slug":"Tyrone-Elks-Lodge-No.-212-announces-Tyrone-Area-teenagers-of-the-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=45022","title":{"rendered":"Tyrone Elks Lodge No. 212 announces Tyrone Area teenagers of the month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tyrone Elks Lodge No. 212 recently announced six Tyrone Area School District teenagers of the month.<br \/>\nStudents were chosen based on character, leadership, service, citizenship and scholastic achievement.<br \/>\nSenior Sara Mease, daughter of Claire Mease of Port Matilda, was chosen for her school activities, including: student council, basketball, volleyball, yearbook, prom committee, senior class president and junior class treasurer.<br \/>\nMease\u2019s special honors include being in the honor society since seventh grade and receiving the R. Todd Narehood Award in tenth grade.<br \/>\nSenior Jordan Rhoat, son of Shannon and Michael Eye of Tyrone, was chosen for his school activities, including: Renaissance Club and Community Outreach. Rhoat\u2019s out-of-school activities include: attending the Pro-Life March in Washington D.C., attending the inauguration and inaugural ball for President George Bush in Washington D.C. and attending the Pennsylvania Governor School for the Arts.<br \/>\nRhoat also received many special honors including best in show at Tyrone High School art show, and multiple first and third places for pieces in art shows.<br \/>\nSenior Wendi Taylor, daughter of Jimmie and Cindy Taylor of Tyrone, was chosen for her school activities, including: concert band, concert choir, peer jury, marching band, POPS Extension, Vocal Attraction, National Honor Society, Jazz Band, SADD, Police Academy and Basketball Pep Band.<br \/>\nTaylor\u2019s out-of-school activities include: district chorus, regional chorus, district band, district jazz band, county band and county chorus. Special honors include: best drum major since ninth grade, best instrumentalist for twelfth grade, best marcher in eighth grade and Renaissance student.<br \/>\nSenior Daniel Domenick, son of Jim and Mary Domenick of Tyrone, was chosen for his school activities, including: student council, track, basketball, cross country, Latin Club, National Honor Society, Peer Jury and weightlifting. Out-of-school activities include: piano, vacation Bible school volunteer and altar server at church.<br \/>\nDomenick\u2019s special honors include: two varsity letters and district qualifier in track, student council vice president, Latin Club president, member of several young musician\u2019s guilds, 2002 Western PA HOBY Ambassador and elected alternate to attend World HOBY Conference, National Merit Scholar Commended Student, featured in 2003-04 USAA National Awards yearbook, varsity letter in basketball, chairman of the NHS web page design committee and designed Latin Club web page.<br \/>\nSenior Tyler Rickards, son of Craig and Sue Rickards of Tyrone, was chosen for his school activities, including: football, baseball, golf and Key Club. His out-of-school activities include Governor\u2019s Youth Council, and a special honor is being in the honor society since seventh grade.<br \/>\nSenior Joseph Houck, son of Brian and Patricia Houck of Spruce Creek, was chosen for his school activities, including: marching band, concert band, jazz band, National Honor Society, District VI Band, County Band, school musicals and Juniata College Honors Band. His out-of school activities include: church youth group, being in 4-H for nine years and church volunteer as a Sunday School teacher, second chalice and lector.<br \/>\nHouck\u2019s special honors include being in National Honor society since seventh grade and perfect attendance from ninth to eleventh grade.<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Elks will sponsor a recognition banquet at the lodge in May to honor all Tyrone school students chosen as teenagers of the month throughout the school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tyrone Elks Lodge No. 212 recently announced six Tyrone Area School District teenagers of the month.
