\u201cI told J. R. Watson it\u2019s really different from this angle, looking out rather than the other angle looking in,\u201d stated Bill Fink.
\nHe made the \u201cmatter of fact\u201d comment shortly after taking his seat as a Tyrone Borough Council member. Fink was sworn in last night and only had a brief time to get used to his new perspective during a brief meeting which lasted less than 20 minutes.
\nFink did take the opportunity during the meeting to ask for a clarification regarding an ordinance before the council.
\nPrior to his becoming a councilman last night, Fink had often addressed the members during public comment period.
\nThe ordinance dealt with the elimination of the borough\u2019s fire chief position and the creation of a fire committee.
\nThe new councilman wanted to know if the head of the borough\u2019s two remaining fire departments were in agreement with the new concept which will have them and a third (a non-member of the borough\u2019s fire department) act as a committee. The member is expected to be a council person who has no affiliation with the fire department.
\nOnce Fink\u2019s concerns were answered, the council approved the ordinance. The issue of who the third member will be on the committee was not decided at last night\u2019s meetings.
\nNew Borough manager Nathan George was also introduced at last night\u2019s meeting. He was hired last year and is relocating here from Nebraska.
\n\u201cI\u2019m happy to be here and enjoy the hospitality of Tyrone so far,\u201d said George.
\nYesterday was George\u2019s first day on the job, he said he\u2019s learning everything he can right now.
\n\u201cMy priority is to get to the community and the staff and see what they want (for the community) that why I\u2019m here to serve,\u201d said George.
\n\u201cWe took a long making a decision and weighed it heavily,\u201d said Mayor Patricia Stoner when asked about the new borough manager.
\n\u201cHe has impeccable credentials and a great personality for a small town, we are looking forward to working with him,\u201d said Stoner.
\n\u201cHe\u2019s a quick study, he already knows more about the borough than many people who live here,\u201d said the mayor.
