The ever-changing community of Tyrone will be in thousands of living rooms across central Pennsylvania this evening with the broadcasting of \u201cOur Town Tyrone.\u201d
\nFor residents who purchase Adelphia cable, Tyrone\u2019s part of the long-running public broadcast series will begin on cable channel 3 at 7 p.m.
\nAccording to WPSX director of programming services Greg Petersen, both he and his staff are \u201chappy\u201d about the project.
\n\u201cBut more importantly, I think the volunteers are happy too,\u201d he said. \u201cTheir comments after the screening (held last week in the YMCA Theater) were quite glowing in their praise. To me, that\u2019s the most gratifying aspect of the \u2018Our Town\u2019 project.\u201d
\nOn Oct. 25, residents of Tyrone volunteered a few hours out of their morning to disperse amongst the community and videotape the different aspects of the time.
\n\u201cAfter all the footage was gathered, the volunteers moved to the Tyrone High School library to offer commentary on what was on the videotapes.
\n\u201cI think that viewers will be very pleasantly surprised at the range of stories and experiences that the volunteers brought to the project,\u201d said Petersen, noting how easy it was working with Tyrone people on the project. \u201cThe volunteers took a lot of care in making their videos and their thoughtful comments tied it all together. The groups were very willing to spend the time necessary to make a great product.\u201d
\nAccording to Petersen, the show is almost 70 minutes in length and said those tuning in will have a chance to become members of WPSX and receive a copy of the program for themselves.
\n\u201cYou could call it \u2018Tyrone Night\u2019 on WPSX-TV,\u201d he said.
\nSome volunteers will volunteer more time tonight to man the phone lines at the offices in State College in hopes of drumming up some financial support for both WPSX and local public broadcasting.
\nThose volunteering include Richard and Ann Searer, Lori Eckert, Amy Hampton, Rose Black, Rachel Guiher, Kim Stiffler, Brian Kelly and Andrew Wilson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
