The Albermarle facility in Tyrone has won the annual Responsible Care Achievement Award given by the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA).
\nThe award recognizes chemical manufacturing facilities that have demonstrated a strong public commitment to environmental, health and safety performance, which is encouraged by the industry\u2019s voluntary Responsible Care program.
\nAlbermarle Corporation\u2019s Tyrone Plant is being recognized for its successful efforts to process aqueous streams from its manufacturing units. A new technology was installed that allowed discharge to the local treatment plant. The plant was able to reduce off site treatment, as well as remove more than 50 truck loads of aqueous waste shipments over local highways.
\n\u201cWe are very pleased that SOCMA has recognized our employees for their commitment to enhance the quality of life for our community with this prestigious award,\u201d said facility manager Randy Andrews. \u201cI am especially proud of our team as they have successfully integrated all elements of Responsible Care into their daily duties. \nSOCMA, the leading international trade association representing the custom and specialty chemical industry, recognized Albermarle Corporation\u2019s Tyrone Plant at SOCMA\u2019s annual dinner and a special Responsible Care Awards reception on Monday in New York City. Representatives from Albemarle, Tyrone accepted the award at the dinner.
