Last night the volunteers and special invited quests were on hand for a special preview of the finished \u201cOur Town Tyrone\u201d documentary scheduled to air next Thursday night on WPSX-TV at 7 p.m.
\nThe event took place at the Tyrone YMCA and a reception followed the sneak peak of the program.
\n\u201cWe had a great response to the program for all those in attendance,\u201d said Greg Peterson, programming coordinator for WPSX television and radio based in State College. \u201cI\u2019m grateful that the people liked it so much. People came up and said afterwards how pleased and proud they were with the finished product.\u201d
\n\u201cIt was a wonderful response to the show,\u201d said Rose Black, interim executive director of the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce. \u201cIt got a round of applause and was all positive. It made you feel really good about our town, and thinks we take for granted everyday.\u201d
\nOn Thursday, Dec. 11 from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m., local residents Richard and Ann Searer, Lori Eckert, Amy Hampton, Rose Black, Rachel Guiher, Kim Stiffler, Brian Kelly and Andrew Wilson will volunteer to answer phones during the stations annual on-air fundraiser.
\nVolunteer videographers were assigned people, places and things in the Tyrone area to film and then narrate for the program. In August, those volunteers gathered at the Tyrone Area High School library to hand in their video creations and sit in front of Channel 3 cameras to narrate what they had shot for the program.
\nVideo and DVD copies of the special program will also be available for sale in the future.
