George will fill the position vacated in February by Alfred Drayovitch of Tyrone.<br \/>\nMr. George comes to Tyrone Borough from Nebraska where he worked in city management. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Master\u2019s Degree in Public Administration with local government emphasis, according to a news release from Tyrone Borough. George also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Brigham Young University and an Associate in Arts Degree in General Education from Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho.<br \/>\nHis work experience also includes city management internships in both Utah and Nebraska. In his position in Elkhorn, he was responsible for grant writing, projected year-end forecasts, participated in a $12.6 million dollar budget process and developed department head performance evaluations, according to information released by Tyrone Borough last night.<br \/>\nHe also worked as a research assistant for Community Development Block Grant funding. His work went so far as to perform in depth assessments of the state\u2019s distribution of CDBG funds and several neighborhood revitalization projects at the Center for Public Affairs Research.<br \/>\nA consensus statement from Tyrone Borough indicates George will bring a vast knowledge of technical skills, including web design and site maintenance, statistical analysis, GIS and census data. He\u2019ll also be responsible for installing and modifying building permit software, training the staff and providing software support.<br \/>\nHe is also a member of the International City\/County Management Association and a past Eagle Scout recipient and is fluent in Portuguese, having served a two-year volunteer service in Brazil.<br \/>\nMr. George, his wife Melinda, and their 1-year-old son Robert are said to be looking forward to becoming an active part of the community of Tyrone, according to the borough news release. George was not in attendance at last night\u2019s meeting but said he seemed pleased about the opportunity when reached by phone in Nebraska this morning.<br \/>\n\u201cWonderful, very excited,\u201d said George when asked what he thought about his appointment as Tyrone Borough\u2019s new manager through an unadvertised ordinance that was adopted at last night\u2019s meeting.<br \/>\nGeorge has made one visit to the area prior to his appointment and found Tyrone in his words, \u201ca nice community with a government and council I\u2019m impressed with, it has a council that wants to work with and has a strong feeling toward the community.\u201d<br \/>\nHe indicated he\u2019ll be moving to Tyrone in about three weeks.
