The Tyrone junior high girls basketball team hosted Philipsburg-Osceola on Tuesday.
\nThe Little Lady Eagles ninth grade team contrlled the game inside on the way to a 49-14 triumph over Philipsburg-Osceola.
\nStefani Bryan led tghe way for the Tyrone ladies pumping 15 points and pulling down a dozen rebounds. Kayla Corle added 10 points, six boards and had nine steals in a big al-around contribution. Liz Tepsic also had 12 rebounds.
\nTyrone won their first game of the year to improve to 1-2.
\n\u201cWe were strong with the ball inside,\u201d said coach Kerry Naylor,\u201d but we had to work hard for everything. We watched film of our game last week with Bald Eagle Area and the girls got to take a look at the way they were playing for the first time. They were able to see they had a long way to go. Tonight they responded and really played hard. We think we are a team that has a lot of scorers. we are starting to play with a lot of confidence. When Steph and Kayla play like they did tonight, we are going to score a lot of points and win games.\u201d
\nThe seventh and eighth grade squad defeated the Lady Mounties 32-11 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
\nAshley Shultz fronted the Tyrone girls with six points and eight steals. Teanna Kobuck led the team in scoring with seven points.
