The Bellwood-Antis School District opened its doors to students this morning.
\nNew superintendent Dr. Brian Toth was at Myers Elementary School welcoming the teachers and students on the first day.
\n\u201cWe have all the students in the high school and middle school and they\u2019re coming into the elementary school right now,\u201d said Toth. \u201cWe\u2019re running smoothly so far.\u201d
\nToth replaced long-time superintendent Rodney Kuhns who retired following the 2002-03 school year.
\n\u201cWe have all of the faculty in place,\u201d said Toth. \u201cWe finalized our staff on Friday. We want to get through the first day with very few problems. We want to get the kids re-acclimated to school and get them used to the fact that after lunch is not play time anymore.\u201d
\nToth is thankful for his smooth transition into his new position.
\n\u201cI am very thankful that Dr. Kuhns stayed on an extra week,\u201d said Toth. \u201cThe people here have welcomed me with open arms. I feel like I have been here forever and it has only been three weeks.\u201d
\nToth credits Myers Elementary School principal Terri Harpster for a smooth day at the elementary school.
\n\u201cTerri had several orientation classes for the new students and new parents,\u201d said Toth. \u201cShe and her staff have helped make it a tear free morning.\u201d
