{"id":46139,"date":"2003-08-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-08-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-08-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-08-05T00:00:00","slug":"LERTA-discussion-continues-for-Snyder-Township","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=46139","title":{"rendered":"LERTA discussion continues for Snyder Township"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act discussion for Snyder Township continues.<br \/>\nIf passed, it would establish tax exemptions for real property located within deteriorated areas of the township.<br \/>\nLast night\u2019s meeting was extended half an hour to discuss the possible LERTA boundaries for the township. The Altoona-Blair County Development Corporation submitted a suggested boundary description for the Northern I-99 Enterprise Zone that runs through Snyder Township. The township supervisors have the authority to change the boundaries to fit the needs of the area.<br \/>\nSupervisors James Daughenbaugh and James Chronister are both in favor of keeping the suggested boundaries that ABCD has set forth. However, Supervisor Ray Rodgers believes the whole township should be considered a LERTA zone.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m just in favor of making a tax break,\u201d said Chronister.<br \/>\nHe also said it could possibly help attract a business into the vacant Ames building.<br \/>\nFormal action on LERTA will be taken in a special meeting scheduled for August 18 at 7 p.m. at the municipal building.<br \/>\nVice President of Plant Operations at Kunzler\u2019s Dave Grazier started discussions with supervisors about Kunzler\u2019s $1.4 million land development project adjacent to the current Snyder Township facility.<br \/>\nTownship engineer Bill Gohn expressed some initial concerns with storm water management and said he would need some assurances from Kunzler\u2019s that the specifications would be correct.<br \/>\nGrazier said Kunzler\u2019s is also waiting to see if LERTA is going to be approved for the township before asking for a permit to begin construction. A concern he has is that the building will not be under roof by November, which is what the facility needs to be completed for next spring.<br \/>\nUntil the proper paper work is completed, no formal action will be taken on behalf of the Kunzler\u2019s land development project.<br \/>\nAlso at last night\u2019s meeting, Gohn gave an update on the Dirt and Gravel Grant in which the board signed an agreement with the Blair County Conservation District. Beaston Road was approved for the project this year, and other roads will be submitted next year when there is more available money.<br \/>\nIn other news,<br \/>\n\u2022 eight more interviews are scheduled for this month to qualify for the Home Project;<br \/>\n\u2022 board approved a letter to be sent to PENNDOT requesting a \u201cno turn on red\u201d sign at the intersection of I-99 and Route 220 N;<br \/>\n\u2022 board approved sending budgeted donations to the Bald Eagle Fire Company, $6,000; Tyrone\/Snyder Public Library, $3,000; Bald Eagle Baseball Association, $250 and Tyrone Teener Leagues, $250 and<br \/>\n\u2022 notification from Gohn that the California Hollow Project is complete, and it was approved to convey the California Hollow Sewage Collection System to the Northern Blair County Regional Sewer Authority.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act discussion for Snyder Township continues.
