The Rustical Quality String Band is scheduled to perform at Reservoir Park Amphitheater, starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.
\nThe public is invited to attend the free event, and everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the sounds of honky-tonk, swing, Irish and country music.
\nIn case of inclement weather, the rain location is set for St. Matthew Hall on Cameron Avenue.
\nThe Rustical Quality String Band is a well-known group from the State College area and have been performing together for 26 years. The band has also played many times at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.
\nBand members include Timothy Craven, Karen Hirshon, Michael Rovine, Celia Millington-Wyckoff and Michael Smyer.
\nPresident of the Tyrone Regional Council of the Arts Steven Stoner said this is the nineteenth year for the concerts to be held at Reservoir Park.
\nHe said each year the council tries to focus on what kinds of music the audience would prefer, and that is the type of concerts the council tries to provide for the public. Also, the council likes to provide groups that offer new musical experiences for the crowd as well as bring back the groups that are well-known to the area.
\nOver the years, the concert series has grown in the number of concerts as well as the amphitheater at Reservoir Park was built in part for the purpose of the concerts.
\nStoner said the purpose of the Tyrone Regional Council of the Arts is to provide experiences for the visual and performing arts.
\nBesides the summer concert series, the council also underwrites a children\u2019s theater with Tyrone Community Players, runs the Gallery in downtown Tyrone for local artists to be seen and works with the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce for Animated Windows at Christmas, among other projects for the Tyrone community.
\nThe schedule of the Summer Sundays concerts at Reservoir Park Amphitheater is as follows: July 20, Les Shaw\u2019s Big Band Sound; July 27, Zupe, featuring big band, Broadway, oldies and country; August 3, Altoona VFW Post 3 Band, featuring music of the patriotic military band and August 10 Clayton Hoover and the Western Band, featuring old-time country.
\nThe public is also invited to attend Intown Tuesdays at Epworth Manor Auditorium, starting at 6:30 p.m. The programs are also sponsored by The Tyrone Arts Council, and admission is free.
\nThe schedule for Intown Tuesdays is as follows: July 15, Revel: Straight from Australia, featuring 60s to Present: sing – a – long music; July 29, Dennie Huber: More music and magic and August 12, The Conrad Brothers, featuring country and bluegrass.
