{"id":46508,"date":"2003-06-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-06-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-06-09T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-06-09T00:00:00","slug":"Daily-Herald-notes-staff-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=46508","title":{"rendered":"Daily Herald notes staff changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>General Manager Chris Lash has announced staff changes at The Daily Herald.<br \/>\n\u201cIn the last few months, The Daily Herald  has been diving deeper into the local news that occurs around us,\u201d said Lash. \u201cConsidering these advances, we have decided to make staff changes that will bring better community coverage to our readers.\u201d<br \/>\nG. Kerry Webster has been appointed to editor due to his experience and aspirations.<br \/>\nHis responsibilities will include the supervision of all news coverage in Northern Blair County. His primary coverage beat, Antis Township and Bellwood-Antis School District, will continue to be the same. He will also assume copy editing responsibilities and front page pagination.<br \/>\n\u201cI feel confident that I\u2019ll be able to take The Daily Herald  to the next level,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the few short months I\u2019ve been here, I found the Northern Blair County to be a haven for good, local stories.<br \/>\n\u201cAs editor, that\u2019s what I want to bring &#8211; extended coverage of the people and events that surround you, our readers.\u201d<br \/>\nHe can be reached daily at The Herald offices from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. He can be e-mailed at dheraldnews@adelphia.net.<br \/>\nKerry joined The Daily Herald  staff in October 2002 as community editor. While in the position, he has re-designed the Community Page of the newspaper and added more pet news with the inclusion of \u201cCompanion\u2019s Corner,\u201d which appears each Saturday.<br \/>\nHe graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School in 1992 and continued his education at Lock Haven University, where he studied sociology. He gained his first newspaper employment in June of 1997 as a staff writer for The Progress in Clearfield. In August 1999, he worked briefly with The Progress sports department before being promoted to bureau chief in January 2000.<br \/>\nKerry resides in Osceola Mills with his wife Jeri.<br \/>\nBecause of his ties to the community and his eye for page design, John Harlow has been appointed special features editor.<br \/>\nIn his new role, John will be responsible for much of the page design work that occurs at The Herald. This not only includes special news and picture pages, but also entails the compiling and design of special tabloid publications.<br \/>\n\u201cThis actually makes my life a little easier,\u201d said Harlow. \u201cKerry has forgotten more about news than I ever knew. We have a good mix here at the paper. This will be positive.\u201d<br \/>\nAlso, John will continue to provide the residents of Tyrone Borough and the Tyrone Area School District their local news stories. He will also assist Sports Editor Bob Miller with design of sport pages. He is an Operation Desert Storm veteran of the United States Army.<br \/>\nChristina Pryor\u2019s personable attitude with the public and impeccable organizational skills has propelled her to the position of community editor.<br \/>\nPrimarily, she will cover the Snyder and Tyrone townships and Bellwood Borough areas of Northern Blair County, but she\u2019ll also be responsible for the fluffy things that occur. She\u2019ll compile information for the Community Calendar and design that page, as well as the page holding Heloise, Horoscopes and Cryptoquote.<br \/>\n\u201cSince joining The Herald staff, I have enjoyed my interactions with the people of the community,\u201d said Pryor. \u201cEverybody here at the office has been very helpful with my transition into writing for the paper, and I\u2019m looking forward to my new role as community editor.<br \/>\n\u201cPlease feel free to e-mail me at dheraldnews3@adelphia.net with any fun and interesting story ideas, and I\u2019ll be sure to get back to you.\u201d<br \/>\nChristina joined The Herald staff in January. She graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1997 and from Penn State University in 2001 with a B.S. in Secondary Education English and Communications . Prior to joining the staff at The Herald, Christina was employed as a teacher.<br \/>\nChristina resides in Birmingham Borough.<br \/>\n\u201cJohn Harlow stepped up last year and took the editor\u2019s position when The Herald  was in dire need of news and direction.
