I hope each and everyone of you honored your Mother this past Sunday.
\nI mention my father many times because he is here in our community, but my Mother has been a huge influence on me.
\nBoth of my parents have a strong work ethic and have worked hard everyday of their lives.
\nIn reality, I am lucky to even have my mother. She had blood clots that were traveling to her lungs and thankfully the doctors caught them in time to save her life.
\nShe has always pushed me to always give 100 percent effort in anything and everything I do. My Mom is a special lady and I miss her everyday. I love you Mom.
\nNow to the weekly column.
\nCongratulations to the Bellwood-Antis Park and Recreation Authority for its efforts on the community build this past weekend. Mother Nature didn\u2019t do anything to help your efforts, but you folks were troopers in getting things done. You have a park that kids will enjoy and hopefully the vandals will stay away from.
\nCongratulations to the Tyrone Women\u2019s Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for their efforts Saturday for their TAG (Tyroners Are Great) Sale. They are still working on getting their final totals together, but this year\u2019s sale was much better than last year, even with the rainy weather.
\nCongratulations to the Tyrone Borough Council for approving the KOEZ status for the Westvaco and Dixon properties. Let\u2019s hope the five years of property tax free status will help draw new industry to Tyrone.
\nIt\u2019s hard to believe that I have been positive for this much of my column.
\nThe kudos continue. Congratulations to the Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis boys and girls who qualified for tomorrow\u2019s District VI Class AA Track and Field meet at Mansion Park in Altoona. Hopefully, we will have some representatives at Shippensburg for the State Track and Field Championships.
\nA special thanks to Congressman Bill Shuster for taking the time yesterday afternoon to speak with The Daily Herald concerning General Franks visit to congress and issues such as the tax cut and medical malpractice.
\nHow long can a conversation last when the only word spoken is Ribbit? The answer to come.
\nI am looking forward to meeting the Blair County Commissioner and Blair County Judge candidates tomorrow night and the Antis Township Supervisors and District Justice candidates tomorrow. I hope to see many of you there. This is your chance to meet the people you will be voting for on May 20.
