The Daily Herald and WTRN radio are hosting the second and third sessions of Meet the Candidates Nights this week.
\nWednesday night, starting at 7 p.m. in the Tyrone Elementary Large Group Instruction Room, voters in Blair County will have the opportunity to meet the candidates for Blair County commissioner and Blair County judge.
\nAs of press time today, four of the five candidates for Blair County commissioner and all four Blair County judge candidates will be on hand.
\n\u201cWe are pleased to provide this opportunity for the people of Northern Blair County to meet the people who will represent them,\u201d said Daily Herald Editor John Harlow. \u201cWe want to thank WTRN who will air these forums and also thank the Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis School districts for providing a place to host these events.\u201d
\nThe three Blair County commissioners\u2019 seats that are open have five candidates hoping to win election. Three Republicans, John Ebersole, John Eichelberger and Barry Wright are seeking to earn a position on the November ballot and Donna Gority and Joseph Claar are running on the Democratic ticket.
\nIn the race for Blair County judge, the candidates are Elizabeth Doyle, Terrance Tomassetti, Norman Callan and William Haberstroh.
\n\u201cWe are looking forward to asking the candidates the questions that voters would like to know,\u201d said Harlow. \u201cThese are the people who will be shaping the future of Blair County. We hope there is a good turnout of the people of the community so they can make an informed decision on May 20.\u201d
\nThursday, the scene changes to the Bellwood-Antis High School to meet the Antis Township supervisor candidates and the district justice candidates.
\nFour Republican candidates are battling to take over the one open seat on the Antis Township Board of Supervisors. Eric Kies, Bob Walker, Dennis Himes Sr. and Scott A. Baldwin are seeking to fill the seat that is being vacated by Leo Matuszewski.
\n\u201cWe are looking forward to giving the voters of Antis Township the chance to meet the people looking to represent them,\u201d said Harlow.
\nThe district justice position for Northern Blair County is being contested by Fred Miller and Suzanne Bigelow-Cherry.
