{"id":46683,"date":"2003-05-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-05-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-05-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-05-07T00:00:00","slug":"Antis-Township-awards--River-Road-Bridge-replacement-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=46683","title":{"rendered":"Antis Township awards  River Road Bridge replacement contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Antis Township Supervisors Thursday unanimously voted to award the bid for the River Road Bridge replacement project to Cottles Asphalt Inc. at a price of $37,977.47.<br \/>\nCottles Asphalt Inc. provided the township with the lowest price. Four other bids were rejected, including those from: D.C. Ventrie, $90,082.05; D.A.C. Enterprises, $62, 880.95; Gordon L. Delozier, $69,707; and H.R.I., $77,315.<br \/>\nAccording to Vice-Chairman Supervisor Ray Amato, the work will take no more than two weeks to complete but could be finished in less than a week.<br \/>\n\u201cThis isn\u2019t a very big project at all,\u201d said Amato. \u201cWe\u2019re hoping to get it started as soon as school lets out.\u201d<br \/>\nAlso Thursday, supervisors discussed the rash of sign stealing and illegal dumping within the township.<br \/>\nBob Srock, a township employee, said thousands of dollars worth of different types of signs &#8211; most notably \u201c911\u201d signs &#8211; have been stolen.<br \/>\n\u201cThey\u2019re being torn down as fast as we\u2019re putting them up,\u201d said Srock.<br \/>\nAmato also touched on areas of the township where illegal dumping seems most prevalent. He said he knows who two of the people are who are responsible for the dumping, but doesn\u2019t have any concrete evidence to implement the individuals.<br \/>\nTownship officials discussed using a motion-sensitive camera to hopefully capture an image of the perpetrators. The board has also discussed offering monetary rewards to individuals supplying information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the illegal dumping. Both possible solutions will be looked into in the near future.<br \/>\nIn other business, supervisors:<br \/>\n\u2022gave authorization to release $7,000 in budgeted funds to the Tipton Antis Volunteer Fire Co.;<br \/>\n\u2022gave authorization to release $17,000 in budgeted funds to the Bellwood-Antis Public Library;<br \/>\n\u2022gave authorization to use River Road for the 5K Run\/2 Mile Walk being planned to benefit pediatric services at Geisinger through the Children\u2019s Miracle Network Telethon on June 1;<br \/>\n\u2022approved an application allowing Elkton Sparkler Co. to set up and sell fireworks in Tipton in front of Rolls Meat Market;<br \/>\n\u2022gave approval for township secretary Linda Kimmen to attend a 3-hour Basic Notary Training session on May 28 in Altoona at a cost of $35;<br \/>\n\u2022gave authorization to Fanelli to gather more information about purchasing two properties adjacent to the municipal building. Supervisors hope to use the areas for additional storage;<br \/>\n\u2022approved an agility agreement with PENNDOT.
