{"id":46784,"date":"2003-04-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-04-22T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-04-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-04-22T00:00:00","slug":"Tyrone-Hospital-and-Women\u2019s-Health-Center-partnering-for-Women\u2019s-Health-Week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=46784","title":{"rendered":"Tyrone Hospital and Women\u2019s Health Center partnering for Women\u2019s Health Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tyrone Hospital and the office of Thomas O\u2019Brien, M.D., Women\u2019s Health Center of Tyrone are teaming up in a few weeks to ensure better medical attention to the female section of the Northern Blair County population.<br \/>\nMay 11 through the 17 is designated as National Women\u2019s Health Week and both healthcare providers have planned a ton of event to coincide with the week\u2019s recognition.<br \/>\n\u201cWe want to give the women in our community a heads up about the activities we have planned during Women\u2019s Health Week and then remind them about each activity before it occurs,\u201d said Theresa Yanchetz, director of marketing and public relations at Tyrone Hospital. \u201cThis will be a week where our women\u2019s health professionals will be available at various times to answer questions and provide information about the women\u2019s health resources available through Tyrone Hospital and its affiliated medical staff.\u201d<br \/>\nThe activities will kick off on May 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Thomas O\u2019Brien, M.D., providing free pap tests, gynecological exams and breast exams. Women who are interested in scheduling an appointment for this screening should call 684-3639.<br \/>\nA Women\u2019s Health and Information Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital.<br \/>\nThis event will provide a variety of information about women\u2019s health topics including, but not limited to, prenatal education and obstetrics services at Tyrone Hospital, female urinary incontinence, the HealthyWoman Program (which offers free mammograms and other women\u2019s healthcare to those who are eligible), alcohol and drug rehabilitation services, forms to provide advance consent for medical treatment of minors, and much, much more.<br \/>\nOn Thursday, May 15, from 1-7 p.m., the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Business Expo at the Bull Pen in Tyrone. Here, representatives from Tyrone Hospital and the office of Thomas O\u2019Brien, M.D., Women\u2019s Health Center of Tyrone, will be available to provide information regarding the women\u2019s health services available through Tyrone Hospital and its affiliated medical staff.<br \/>\nTo conclude the week, the hospital will sponsor a Mother\/Daughter Women\u2019s Health Education program. The topics of discussion have yet to be determined.<br \/>\nWomen have unique health issues and concerns and their health issues vary over the lifespan,\u201d said Yanchetz. \u201cTyrone Hospital wanted to use National Women&#8217;s Health Week as an opportunity to help women in our community learn more about the variety of resources available to them through Tyrone Hospital and its affiliated medical staff.\u201d<br \/>\nAlthough this is the inaugural event of this type in the community, Yanchetz was quick to note that this isn\u2019t the only time of the year the hospital or its affiliates take a concentrated look into women\u2019s health issues.<br \/>\n \u201cThis is the first year we have organized an information fair specific to women&#8217;s health,\u201d said Yanchetz. \u201cTyrone Hospital sponsors  a number of community  health fairs often in partnership with other local organizations and these events are well received.\u201d<br \/>\nIn addition, Yanchetz said the office of Thomas O&#8217;Brien conducts quarterly women&#8217;s health education programs and these programs have also  been well received and there seems to be growing interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tyrone Hospital and the office of Thomas O\u2019Brien, M.D., Women\u2019s Health Center of Tyrone are teaming up in a few weeks to ensure better medical attention to the female section of the Northern Blair County population.
