Mrs. Mary Gertrude Steele, 78, of 2 West 11th Street, Tyrone, died Tuesday morning, April 15, 2003 at the Life Care Hospital, 225 Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkensburg.
\nShe was born February 19, 1925 at Manor Holl, a daughter of the late James Alexander and Annie J. (Hoffman) Hoffer.
\nShe was married December 1, 1943 in Tyrone to Ellsworth J. Steele who preceded her in death on October 25, 1988.
\nShe is survived by a daughter, Mary Steele of Tyrone and three sons, Robert J. of Tyrone, Martin B. of Tyrone and Ernest L. of Hanover, seven grandchildren, five step grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and a brother William Hoffer of Sinking Valley.
\nShe was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, James, Pete, Edward, Elsie Riling, Esther Hammond and Lorina Mitchell.
\nShe attended the Assembly of God Church, Tyrone.
\nShe retired from Big Yank Corporation and was previously employed in the dietary and laundry departments of the Tyrone Hospital. She also worked at the Westvaco paper mill restaurant
\nFuneral service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home with Rev. Terryann Talbot-Moses officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
