Tyrone Junior High played host to neighboring Bellwood-Antis Monday, at the Tyrone Area High School gym, and promptly came away with a 53 – 28 victory.
\nThe Little Eagles took a 25-14 lead into halftime, then broke the game open by outscoring the Devils by a 19 -5 count in the third quarter to take a commanding 44-19 lead. From there, Coach Domenick was able to get all 15 players into the game.
\n“Everything we did, worked today” stated Coach Domenick. “We changed up our defense coming out after halftime and the kids executed perfectly.\u201d
\nJosh Clark led 10 players in the scoring column with 11 points. Doug Morrow had 10, while Adam Corle and Byron Kost chipped in seven each.
\nIn the eighth grade game, Tyrone put on a furious 2nd half rally, but fell short to Bellwood’s eighth graders by a 23-22 score. Now 10 – 6, Tyrone was led in scoring by Jamie Levinson and Josh Bradley with eight points apiece.
\nWith the flu season at full power, Huntingdon’s Junior High team was left with 10 players for their visit to Tyrone on Tuesday.
\nThe outmanned Bearcats were no match for the Tyrone Junior High, as the Little Eagles rolled to a 5 -14 victory.
\nThey raced to a 28 – 8 lead at halftime advantage, and coasted from there
\nAdam Shaffer led the scoring with 14 points. Josh Clark and Adam Corle each scored eight points, while Doug Morrow and Josh Shaffer tossed in six apiece.
\nNow 16-4 on the season, the Little Eagles wrap up their season on Thursday when they travel to Clearfield.
\nGame time is set for 3:30 p.m.
\nTyrone’s eighth graders got back on the winning track with a 27-20 win over Huntingdon’s eighth graders.
\nRussell Beck led the scoring with seven, while Jimmy Bell tossed in five. Tyrone is now 11-6 on the season.
