{"id":47029,"date":"2003-02-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-02-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-02-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-02-11T00:00:00","slug":"Drayovitch-resigns-as-Tyrone-Borough-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=47029","title":{"rendered":"Drayovitch resigns as Tyrone Borough manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What started on June 15, 1993, came to an end following an executive session and the reconvening of Tyrone Borough Council, as the council accepted the resignation of Borough Manager Al Drayovitch.<br \/>\nThe Daily Herald learned of the news in a fax sent to the paper at 10:51 a.m. today.<br \/>\nThe resignation is effective immediately.<br \/>\n\u201cOn February 10, 2003, I submitted my resignation as borough manager of the Borough of Tyrone so I could pursue other career opportunities,\u201d said Drayovitch in a prepared statement. \u201cDuring the almost 10 year period, I worked for the borough, I helped bring about a number of important community projects. This includes major improvements to the water and sewer systems. Even with these improvements, our sewer and water rates are the lowest in this area and and we have been able to keep the borough taxes at the same level for the past seven years.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m proud that I was able to help with these accomplishments,\u201d Drayovitch continued. \u201cI wish the borough well in all its future endeavors.\u201d<br \/>\nTyrone Mayor Patricia Stoner commented on the resignation,<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m grateful for Al for his years of service to the borough,\u201d she said. \u201cI wish him well at whatever his paths of the future should take.\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to Stoner, the borough will be seeking a new borough manager promptly and will be advertising for the position immediately. In the meantime, Stoner said borough business would continue to operate as it has, due in large part to the dedication of the borough staff.<br \/>\n\u201cWe experienced this before when the borough manager was off for a lengthy period of time for illness, so everyone here knows what to do,\u201d she said. \u201cEach of the individual department heads knows the added responsibility now upon us. We already met this morning and looked at what we need to do.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ll be okay.\u201d<br \/>\nDrayovitch was hired by the borough on June 15, 1993. His first effective day was on Aug. 2, 1993.<br \/>\nDrayovitch graduated from Kutztown University in 1971 with a bachelor\u2019s degree, and two years later, accepted the position of assistant manager and secretary of Wyomissing Borough in 1973. Eight years later, he was promoted to borough manager and secretary of the Reading suburb.<br \/>\nDrayovitch was hired to the Tyrone Borough Council after being recommended by then council members Vance Clark, Ted Wood, Peggy Frantz and James Beckwith.
