The fundraiser for the building project of the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library got a boost from the local branch of Omega Bank yesterday with a $1,000 donation to the drive.
\n\u201cWe are relatively new in the area compared to the other two banks, and we just want to show that we want to make a commitment to the area,\u201d said Kathy Hughes, community office manager at Omega Bank. \u201cWe are committed to higher education and better services for the community, and we think the library is an excellent start.\u201d
\nOmega Bank also supports other Tyrone community projects and hopes to continue its support in the future.
\n\u201cWe try to support the Chamber of Commerce, which helps to bring businesses to the area,\u201d added Hughes. \u201cAlso, we\u2019re involved with the Tyrone Railroad Museum. I hope if all goes well, we can continue to give to the library. That\u2019s our intention at this point.\u201d
\nThe board members of the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library are extremely pleased with the donation from Omega Bank.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s obviously very good. It shows the commitment of Omega Bank for the community of Tyrone and helping it to become progressive to open up a new library,\u201d said Chuck Banas, director of public relations for the library.
\nBanas said at the March library board meeting, a total fundraising amount from this point should be calculated and that the board will know how much of the $325,000 it will still need to raise. The efforts are running smoothly for the new library building project, with donations from the community coming in and the planning of more fundraising concerts like the Feb. 15 blast at the high school.
\n\u201cRight now I\u2019ve been in contact with seven groups,\u201d said Banas, \u201cWe have to work with the high school to match up the dates that the auditorium might be available and work with other organizations in town to make sure we don\u2019t have the activity the same night they do.
\n\u201cI\u2019d like the next group to come in May. Within the next two to three weeks, we\u2019ll be able to announce what we\u2019re doing, and who it will be, and where and when.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
