\n\u2022 The Tyrone Kiwanis Club met in the YMCA and had as its guests the Board of Education and the School Authority. Homer C. Thomas was in charge of the program. Dr. Norman Miller, superintendent of schools, introduced Walter Campbell, an Altoona architect to give a description of the proposed new elementary buildings of Adams and Logan Schools.
\n\u2022 Richard Stever, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard W. Stever became the second of the Stever sons to be named \u201cBoy of the Month by the Kiwanis Club.
\n\u2022 In sports, Donald Emenhizer rolled the single high game of 250 at the YMCA in the Tyrone National YMCA West Bowling Tournament to win a trophy.

\n\u2022 The board of directors of the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library re-elected its entire slate of officers and welcomed a new member at its meeting. Reverend Samuel T. Lewis III was president and Kenneth E. Wertz was vice president.
\n\u2022 Reverend Paul P. Schroeder, Epworth Manor Administrator, was upset by recent federal cuts in medicaid and CETA programs. Schroeder sent a letter to President Ronald Reagan outlining his complaints and inviting him to tour the facilities at Tyrone.
\n\u2022 In sports, District VI, Class AA wrestlers began the long trek to Hershey Park at Tyrone High School where 160 hopefuls from 14 area schools competed for 48 spots for 6-AA Championships.
