The immediate and extended family of Navy Master Chief Mess Management Specialist Steve Moore of Port Matilda will be traveling to the White House tomorrow to take part in a two hour ceremony and reception in honor of the retirement of their cousin after 22 years in the military and 10 to 12 of those years as the chef for Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Prior to working at the White House, Moore spent another ten years in food service at The Pentagon.
\nJay and Deanna Young along with Jim and Deb Moore and Frank and Judy Ieraci, all from Tyrone will join other aunts, uncles and cousins in support of Moore.
\nThe White House is currently off limits to visitors but will open it doors for the family to be a part of the retirement get together. They will enter through the Eisenhower Executive Office building inside the Presidential Hall.
\nDeanna Young, cousin of Moore said \u201cWe are all very proud of him and his many accomplishments. He\u2019s traveled the world and has met so many people. Our whole family is going and offering our support\u201d. Specialist Moore has been to Russia on three occasions and has also traveled with Presidents to Romania, Rome and other countries. He had the very special honor of having his picture taken with President Bush yesterday inside The Oval Office.
\nEven more proud of Moore are his parents Oscar and Pat who still reside in Port Matilda.
\n\u201cWe are very proud of his accomplishments and he\u2019s done a great job working many long hours,\u201d said his mother Pat Moore. \u201cHe has reached the highest rank possible as an enlisted person and is considering staying in food service work in the future.\u201d
\nFamily members are also very excited to be able to see inside of The White House.
\n\u201cI\u2019m very excited\u201d said Deanna Young. \u201cI\u2019ve seen it from the outside but look forward to viewing it from the inside. And it would be even more exciting to be able to meet President Bush,\u201dYoung told The Daily Herald yesterday.
\nAfter hundreds of prepared meals for Presidents, banquets for kings and other dignitaries, tomorrow\u2019s meal will be his last as a proud member of the Navy. And with his entire family in attendance perhaps the most special of all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
