{"id":47511,"date":"2003-01-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-01-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2003-01-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-01-20T00:00:00","slug":"Bellwood-Antis-receives-$21-000-state-grant-for-outstanding-academic-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=47511","title":{"rendered":"Bellwood-Antis receives $21,000 state grant for outstanding academic performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Testing scores in Bellwood-Antis are on the rise \u2013 and the district is reaping the rewards.<br \/>\nLast week, middle school principal Robert Fisher announced that due to an increase in Pennsylvania State School Assistant scores, the fifth grade class was awarded a $21,788 grant from the state Department of Education of Education, part of the School Performance Incentive grant.<br \/>\n\u201cThis class worked extremely hard to achieve what they have,\u201d said Fisher. \u201cWe\u2019re proud of their accomplishments and also of the accomplishes of the fifth grade staff and faculty who help these students prepare in the proper manner.\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to Fisher, the PSSA scores measure students\u2019 skills in math and reading.<br \/>\nHe said this round\u2019s score of 2,700 was 120 points higher than the combined average of the past  five years, which was 2,580<br \/>\n\u201cThat\u2019s a pretty significant increase and I think the state took note of that,\u201d said Fisher.<br \/>\nFisher said the grant must be expended by June 30. Fisher said the funds will be used to add to the curriculum, and may include obligations for staff development, instruction, assessment and traning and in-service programs.
