The State Labor and Industry Board granted a 90 day extension to Pyramid Healthcare to bring their Greentree Village property up to code in Bald Eagle.
\nThere were 11 violations of the state\u2019s fire and panic regulations at the Bald Eagle facility when it was inspected August 26. Pyramid had until January 6, 2003 to correct the violations.
\nIn the Labor and Industry findings in August, Pyramid\u2019s certificate of occupancy is for a large personal care home, not for an educational facility.
\nPyramid asked for the extension because it did not receive approval for a new classroom building from the Snyder Township Board of Supervisors.
\nThe supervisors finally approved the land development plan December 3 at their meeting.
\n\u201cThis extension allows us to continue to use the main building at Greentree Village as is until our new classroom building is complete,\u201d said Andrea Shope, Pyramid\u2019s spokesperson. \u201cWe have submitted all plans and drawings for the classroom building to the Snyder Township Supervisors and are now waiting for them to grant a building permit so we can begin construction.\u201d
\nThe Greentree Village project has faced opposition from the Snyder Township and Vicinity Concerned Citizens from the start. Members of the group voiced their opposition to the land development approval at the December 3 Snyder Township Supervisors meeting.
\nPyramid had planned to have their new building complete before the January 6, 2003 deadline, but were unable to move on their plans until getting approval from Snyder Township.
\n\u201cGiven the delays that we have encountered with Snyder Township in getting approval to build the classroom building, we are quite relieved that the Department of Labor and Industry has given us an extension to their original deadline,\u201d said Shope. \u201cThis enables us to continue to provide much needed education and therapy to the kids who are in our program at Greentree.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
