{"id":47731,"date":"2002-12-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-12-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2002-12-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2002-12-03T00:00:00","slug":"Tyrone-School-Board-officials-remain-in-same-positions-for-2003","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=47731","title":{"rendered":"Tyrone School Board officials remain in same positions for 2003"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tyrone Area School Board of Directors met last evening for purposes of reorganization.<br \/>\nJames Stover was re-elected as the board\u2019s president and James Crawford was again re-elected as the board vice-president.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019d just like to take the time now to thank this board for all they have done,\u201d said Stover. \u201cWe have a good group of people in here that are dedicated to this district. Thank you.\u201d<br \/>\nDr. Bill Miller, superintendent, said all committees will contain the same board members as in 2002; however, noted that any member continues to have the option of switching committees or becoming involved in one of the others.<br \/>\nCommittees and their members are:<br \/>\n\u2022Educational Programs and Materials Committee \u2013 Peter Dutrow, chair; William Hartsock, Norman Huff and Cindy Whitby.<br \/>\n\u2022Physical Plant and Operations Committee \u2013 Luther Laird, chair; Brian Bressler, Peter Dutrow, William Hartsock and Cindy Whitby.<br \/>\n\u2022Human Resource Committee \u2013 Becky Emenhiser, chair; William Hartsock and Norman Huff.<br \/>\n\u2022Financial Operations Committee \u2013 Norman Huff, chair; Brian Bressler, James Crawford and Luther Laird.<br \/>\n\u2022Public and Student Relations Committee \u2013 William Hartsock, chair; Peter Dutrow, Becky Emenhiser, Norman Huff and Roberta Ramsay.<br \/>\n\u2022Board Regulatory Activities Committee \u2013 James Crawford, chair; Becky Emenhiser, William Hartsock and Luther Laird.<br \/>\n\u2022Student Activities and Services Committee \u2013 Brian Bressler, chair; Peter Dutrow, Becky Emenhizer, Luther Laird and Cindy Whitby.<br \/>\n\u2022Employee Relation Committee \u2013 Brian Bressler, chair; Brian Bressler and James Crawford.<br \/>\n The board president is ex-officio of all committees.<br \/>\nAlso, the board appointed representatives for various organizations.<br \/>\n\u2022Selected Luther Laird as legislative chairperson. Laird served in the position during 2002.<br \/>\nThe legislative chairperson is responsible for representing their school board at the county legislative action meetings where discussions with legislators are held, key issues affecting school boards and education are discussed, and county legislative priorities are selected. In addition, the legislative chairperson receives special legislative publications from PSEA.<br \/>\n\u2022appointed James Crawford as PSBA representative. Crawford served in this position in 2002.<br \/>\nThe program was initiated in 1996 to more directly involve every member school entity in the work of the state association. Representatives will be the direct link to the association, serving as a member of the regional director\u2019s cabinet. He will receive special updates on PSBA activities, provide suggestions for programs, publications and advocacy activities, assist in planning regional meetings and, generally, serve as a direct link to the state organization.<br \/>\n\u2022Elected Cindy Whitby as Employee Relations Contact. She served in this position in 2002.<br \/>\nThis position creates an opportunity for dialogue between local school directors and PSBA on the many issues facing boards in their role as an employer. Information, ideas and needs will be solicited from and disseminated through this contact person, in addition to announcements of inservice opportunities.<br \/>\n\u2022Elected Whitby as Technology Committee, as required by the state.
