\nThe goal is $325,000, which computes to more than half of the entire cost for the project.

\nThe library currently serve 4,654 active members and delivers to homebound individuals. There are more than 20,000 books, periodicals and reference materials available.
\nThere are plenty reasons why the area needs a new library.
\nThe present building, located on Logan Avenue, is 3,515 square-feet. Consultants recommend a minimum of 9,000 square feet to meet library demands.
\nThe current facility does not meet local codes or ADA access requirements. There is no elevator or access ramp.
\nBecause of expansion, a need has emerged for more book shelving, increased computer and technology services and a listening center. Also, officials believe there will be more traffic at the library once the Interstate 99 link is completed in 2005.
\nThe new building, located at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and West Tenth Street, will provide more than the recommended 9,000 square-feet of space and will contain a larger collection of regular and large-print books, audio and video racks and display shelving for magazines and periodicals.
\nThere will be a \u201cbright and cheery\u201d open space for varied children\u2019s programming; comfortable seating for reading, research and education in pleasant and open surroundings; increased space for computer, telefax and related electronic technologies; increased ease of supervision; compliance with ADA law and local code regulations; and comfortable and open meeting spaces for public and private groups.
\nOfficials are hoping for an August opening.
\nCurrent library hours are Monday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed Sundays.
