{"id":47893,"date":"2002-11-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-11-02T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2002-11-02T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2002-11-02T00:00:00","slug":"Daily-Herald-poll-results-show-Mayor-getting-average-marks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=47893","title":{"rendered":"Daily Herald poll results show Mayor getting average marks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What started off as a challenge to find out what the people of Tyrone think, The Daily Herald took the task it was given and ran with it.<br \/>\nWe randomly sampled one percent of the registered voters in the Tyrone Borough and asked them the same five questions.<br \/>\nThree were multiple choice, one was a yes or no answer and the fifth question was an opinion question.<br \/>\nThe multiple choice questions were What is your opinion of the job performance of the Mayor, Borough Manager and Borough Council. The choices were excellent, favorable, average, below average or poor.<br \/>\nThere are 3,043 registered voters in Tyrone.<br \/>\nThe job performance of Mayor Pat Stoner scored higher marks than the Borough Manager Al Drayovich or the council.<br \/>\nThe mayor had 16 percent rate her performance excellent, 16 percent rate her performance as favorable, 40 percent rated her performance as average, 13 percent rated her performance as below average and 13 percent rated her job performance as poor.<br \/>\nBorough Manager Al Drayovich rated three percent excellent, 13 percent as favorable, 43 percent as average, 23 percent as below average and 16 percent as poor.<br \/>\nThe Borough Council fared the lowest in our one percent sampling of the registered voters of Tyrone.<br \/>\nSix percent of the people surveyed gave the council an excellent performance rating, 10 percent rated their performance as favorable, 30 percent rated the council average, 36 percent rated their job performance as below average and 16 percent rated their performance as poor.<br \/>\nThe people surveyed responded in big numbers on the question of do they believe that council serves the entire borough. Seventy-seven percent of the people said no, 23 percent responded yes.<br \/>\nWhen asked what the people believe was the most important issue facing the council, the answer that led the survey respondents was jobs.<br \/>\nTwenty six percent of the people surveyed resoponded that the most important issue facing the council was jobs. One respondent said that the council should do what is necessary to help get the Westvaco plant filled with a business that will create jobs.<br \/>\nBringing business and industry to the area was second with 23 percent. One respondent said that the  Borough should bring business into Tyrone, not drive it out. A second person said that Tyrone should make a climate favorable for a business to locate in the borough.<br \/>\nThe drug problem in Tyrone scored 23 percent as well. One respondent said that Tyrone should beef up its police force to help curb the drug problem. Another respondent said the council should work on providing an alternative for teenagers.
