The Tyrone-Snyder Public Library always strives to bring fun and educational programs to the area\u2019s youth.
\nThe month of October is no different as the library is pleased to welcome Cory Geishauser back to the library for a series of cartooning lessons for children in third through sixth grades.
\nAccording to the director of the library, Jessica Ford Cameron, Geishauser is best known as \u201cSteamer\u201d, the mascot for the Altoona Curve. He is also a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and is a professional cartoonist and graphic artist.
\nHis work has appeared on WTAJ-TV 10, Accu-Weather and American Square Dance Magazine. Also, Geishauser was the \u201cArtist of the Month\u201d at the Altoona Area Public Library in January of 2008.
\nGeishauser previously visited the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library in July to do a cartooning workshop as part of the Summer Reading Program, and the kids just loved it, so that\u2019s why he was invited back.
\nCartooning with Geishauser will feature sessions on caricature, inventing cartoon characters, drawing comic strips, lettering and funny faces.
\nThe lessons are scheduled to run on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m., from October 8 through October 29.
\nPre-registration is required, and there is a fee.

\nAlso coming up for the library will be a children\u2019s program on October 4 as part of Tyrone Rotary\u2019s Farm\/City Day festivities downtown this year.
\nBlair County Conservation District\u2019s popular creature teacher, Jody Wallace, will explore the mysteries of \u201cWater Quality\u201d and \u201cFreshwater Bugs\u201d. Weather permitting, the programs will take place outside.
\nIn case of inclement weather, participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at Gyotaku (the art of fish printing). These Japanese fish prints will be completed inside the library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
