First Assembly of God Church has many spring events planned for the upcoming months.
\nThe Spring Missions Convention will be held April 13-16.
\nFirst Assembly is a strong missions church, and to keep the missions vision alive, the church hosts a yearly spring convention and a yearly fall emphasis.
\nAlso, throughout the year, several missionaries visit the church to speak to the congregation and community throughout the year.
\nThe church currently supports 35 foreign and two home missionaries, as well as The American Indian Bible College, Christian Training Network, The Hillcrest Children\u2019s\u2019 Home, Valley Forge College, the Retired Missionary Fund and the Assemblies of God Emergency Relief Fund.
\nLast year, First Assembly gave over $24,000 to foreign missions and over $32,000 total to World Ministries Giving.
\nThe theme of this year\u2019s spring convention is \u201cEverywhere\u201d, based on Acts 1:8.
\nThere will be five special missions speakers during the week. The speakers will represent the mission fields of Bulgaria, Greece, South Africa and the Baltic States.
\nService times are Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Special services will be held Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the missions banquet being held Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
\nOn Sunday morning, April 13, the special speaker will be Rev. David Crosby, son of former pastor of First Assembly, Rev. Harold Crosby. Rev. David Crosby is the Secretary\/Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Delaware District Council of the Assemblies of God and is also the district\u2019s Foreign Missions Director.
\nOn Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. the speaker will be Rev. Garry Menke. Garry and his wife Sheryl have completed missionary tours in Tonga, South Pacific. Their new assignment will take them to Sofia, Bulgaria.
\nRev. Tony Sebastian will be the guest speaker Monday evening. He and his wife Jamie are newly appointed missionaries going tot he field for the first time. They will be working in Greece.
\nRev. Charles Hasselbring will speak on Tuesday evening. Along with his wife, Tammy, he is a veteran missionary working in South Africa.
\nFinally, on Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. the church will host their Spring Missions Banquet. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
\nThe banquet speaker will be Rev. Terrance Hall. He and his wife Jill are missionaries to Russia, serving currently in the Baltic States.
\nPastor Glunt at First Assembly welcomes everyone who desires to come and hear any or all of these speakers.
\nThe public is invited to attend these special convention services.
\nAlso at the end of the month, another Olde Fashioned Hymn Sings is scheduled on April 27 at 6:30 p.m.
\nParticipating in the hymn sing will be some of the best in local gospel music. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities.
\nIn May, the church\u2019s 10:30 a.m. worship service will be broadcast live over WTRN radio.
\nMother\u2019s will receive special recognition on May 11. In honor of Mother\u2019s Day, all the mothers in attendance will be honored with a special gift.
\nIn return, on Father\u2019s Day, June 15, all the dads present in church will receive a gift also.
\nOn June 22 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a baptismal service for those wishing to be baptized in water. First Assembly members who wish to participate in this special event should contact Pastor Glunt.
\nFinally, he church will once again host its Sunday night fellowships.
\nThe fellowship night is scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, immediately following Sunday evening service.
\nA new addition to the First Assembly lineup of events is \u201cFriendship Dinners\u201d which will be held after the morning service on the fifth Sunday\u2019s of the month, when there is one.
\nThe Friendship Dinners will occur four times a year and are being promoted to encourage fellowship and to allow a time for people to come to know others who attend the church.
\nEveryone is invited to come and make a friend.
