Crowther on Saturday, October 11.<br \/>\nDirector James Crowther, represented the Crowther family. Foundation President Bob Hileman, Jr. and Foundation Secretary\/Treasurer Carol Hileman joined him.<br \/>\nA panel was placed on the Wall of Honor at the Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitors Center in the afternoon. The panel includes Colonel Crowther\u2019s portrait and text that highlights his service to the Union. Colonel Crowther fell while leading the 110th and 84th Regiments of Pennsylvania Volunteers on May 3, 1863.<br \/>\nDuring the early afternoon hours, National Park Service Supervisory Historian Greg Mertz led the small group on a tour of the battlefield. The tour followed the movements of Bowman\u2019s Brigade, the regiments Colonel Crowther led were part of this brigade, during the three days this battle was fought. Starting on the road, the brigade traveled from US Ford to Chancellorsville, the group viewed significant locations on the battlefield. The tour ended near the location where Colonel Crowther fell.<br \/>\nIn the late afternoon, the directors traveled to the Fredericksburg National Cemetery where members of the General Meade Society of Philadelphia were gathered. A large group of members of the society were on a tour of the Fredericksburg area and decided to stop at the cemetery to honor Colonel Crowther.<br \/>\nColonel Crowther Foundation President Bob Hileman, Jr. spoke to the society members at Colonel Crowther\u2019s grave. Hileman spoke about Colonel Crowther\u2019s military career and his civilian service to the community of Tyrone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colonel Crowther&#8217;s panel on the Wall of Honor (top center).
